More About Muttface’s Legacy

We miss you, Old Man, Love you always, Momma.”

Sadly we lost Muttface in February 2021 at the age of 27. He was beloved by all who knew him. His current groom had this to say:

“When the “First Ladies” walked into Barn 4 16 months ago we chose our horses by picking their names off of a chalkboard. I picked Muttface and Mrs. Weldon laughed and I knew that I had picked one of the greats! Oh it was a little rocky to start, ’cause he conducted a series of tests I had to pass, like pushing me down hills and head butting me out outta stalls while I was bent over! This went on for months but I learned his little tricks and in the meantime all his favorite things like wild onions, (you could smell him a mile away) bananas and peanut butter and warm rolls! I also knew all the scratchy spots he loved groomed most and when done right he’d sway from side to side just like he was dancing lol! Head held so high! I’ll never forget it. I know he appreciated getting groomed more than any other horse and I always paid him a little more attention than the rest, and besides, he was my sweet, sweet boy. I told him every day how good looking he was and nicknamed him “Patrick Swayze”. HE was so smart and determined (some might say an escape artist) a real go-getter just like his Momma. 😉 I would say to him, “Show Momma your pretty smile…” and he’d raise that big ol’ horse lip and show me all 3 of his teeth and my cup runneth over. There will never be another that can take his place and I’m forever grateful for the impact Muttface has had on my life. We buried my sweet sweet boy on my 40th birthday, last week, but every day I still look out the back door hoping by some chance to catch a glance of my Mutt-Mutt.”
