James River Horse Foundation Volunteers
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. We welcome your involvement with our mission to rescue horses, and train incarcerated women to rehabilitate, retrain them, and adopt them out.

If you are interested in becoming a JRHF volunteer, we ask that you first submit the online interest form below, attend a Volunteer Training Day and complete the Volunteer Registration form.
Volunteer Orientation is held when an appropriate number of volunteers need orientation and after receipt of a volunteer form.
Volunteer Opportunities include:
- Event Volunteers (Sponsor Day, Open Barn, and Other Fundraising Events)
- Marketing, Social Media and Communication Support
- Grant Writing, Volunteer Coordination, Junior Volunteer Program, Donor Outreach
- Logistics Support
- Emergency Feed List Volunteer – used during events resulting in the inmates being unable to care for horses (a volunteer shadow day, background check, and additional DOC training are required)
Junior Volunteers (ages 16 and up) are welcome!
