The James River Horse Foundation is a partnership and impacts everyone in the surrounding community. One only has to ride down Route 6 and see the beautiful horses and well maintained fields to appreciate the impact!

The State Farm Work Center’s horse program is a public/private partnership between the VADOC and the James River Horse Foundation. The James River Horse Foundation is an Accredited Organization with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. The foundation provides all costs of horse care and VADOC provides the inmate work/training crew.

The foundation shares and engages the community through horse sponsorship, volunteers, and Open Barns during the year. The community engages with the foundation and the VADAOC during Open Barn and learns about horses, agriculture and similar programs.

The foundation is a member of the Goochland Chamber and works with other rescue organizations to educate and have a lasting impact on the horses, people and the community.
