Update November 2018: Icey and Kaileigh were Reserve Champion of the Special Hunters at the VHSA Finals in Lexington, VA!
After a very brief life on the track, Life Behind Barz was sent to TRF’s James River Chapter at the advice of his trainer. He was adopted by Hilary and Kaileigh Keller in 2009, and started his new life as Black Ice, or Icey.
Icey was a young gelding with lots of love to give but lots of manners to learn! He spent his first two years learning ground work and how to be a “real” horse. Once his ground manners were up to par, Kaileigh started training him for his new career.
Icey was a willing partner from the beginning and has always had a great brain, but he prefers to go as SLOW as possible!
Icey started with a competition at the Virginia Horse Center Thoroughbred Celebration Show and has never looked back. Kaileigh and Icey have competed in rated Thoroughbred divisions and at many local shows.
Icey now enjoys his life as a school horse at Pine Crest Farm and is a barn favorite! Great for beginners and advanced riders alike, Icey has recently been taking riders to their first shows!
He has been a great addition to the Keller family and will continue to teach people of all ages about caring for horses and riding.
